Miscellaneous #2 | flower photography, recent favorites + springtime rambling

Hello again, my dear readers. I finally managed to take a few photos of the flowers right outside of our house (I have no idea why I find this to be so difficult) and after glancing through them decided to share a few. One of my wonderful aunts gave my sister and I a macro-lens that attaches to an iPhone. In the months since then, sadly I have barely used it, but our lilacs seemed to be the perfect subject to practice on and I was able to get a handful of images I am happy with. Unfortunately that fact that it is essentially always windy where I live made it difficult and resulted in photos that are rather more blurred than I was hoping for. Oh well, I guess I will simply have to try again tomorrow.

Songs on Repeat:

Dancing With Your Ghost – Sasha Alex Sloan

[I fell in love with this song as soon as I first heard my friend play it; pleasantly enough it also pushed me to dive into all of Sloan’s wonderful music. :)]

Getaway – TAYA

[One more week until the whole album drops!!]

A Boy Like That/I Have a Love – Ariana DeBose + Rachel Zegler

Only Child – Sasha Alex Sloan

Recently Watched (and Enjoyed):

West Side Story [2021] | PG-13

This is easily the most depressing musical ever…but Ariana DeBose is incredible and Rachel Zegler’s voice blew me away.

Mrs. America [2020] | TV-MA

I started watching this show for Cate Blanchett and the historical elements, but I fell in love with it because it gave me so much to think about.

Heartland – Seasons 1, 2 + 15

I think this is our third time through the show, and so far we are enjoying it again. 🙂

Rambling:

Everything outside my window is completely alive and green. The birds have been singing endlessly and it feels like summer.

I am still in shock over the fact that warm weather and green grass are actually here to stay. New England winters seem endless and as soon as you get used to the beauty of summer it is September.

School ends in two weeks for us. I will be officially done with high school in two short weeks. It doesn’t seem real, but it does seem right.

Life has been a bit crazy for my family lately but I have never been more thankful for our life together. There is so much beauty in our lifestyle (and family culture :)) that no else seems to see or understand.

I won’t be leaving for college in the fall, but I am excited for my next adventures, whatever they look like – perhaps finally getting my license or simply spending time writing, going to see Gilded Age mansions or singing with dear friends, visiting the ocean or experimenting with croissant dough.

We (a few of my siblings and I) watched Mamma Mia!!: The Movie last weekend – for the first time this year – and of course the soundtrack has been on repeat since, driving a couple of my brothers crazy and making my younger siblings very happy.

It is one of my brother’s birthday today and I am so proud of him. He has grown so much this year and I love him so much. You are awesome, brother of mine, and I am so thankful I get to be your big sister.

I guess that is all I have to say today.

What have you been up to lately? Listening to or watching anything fun? Am I the only who has not listened to any of Harry’s House?

  2. Those pictures are brilliant. So vibrant, absolutely lovely.
I have listened to the entirety of Harry’s House on repeat haha, if you’re looking for a relaxed pop, I actually do recommend it! But I’ve also been listening to Charlie Hickey’s Nervous at Night album. Super good, if you’re looking for melancholy indie music.
Hope your summer is splendid. Really enjoy reading your posts.
