Summer Photography – P.2 | feat. Current Musical Obsessions [Maverick City Music & Billie Eilish]

Hello again, dear readers. I hope that this post finds you well, and staying cool. We are enjoying some nice, warm, weather where I live. Despite the slight discomfort the heat causes, we are very grateful for decent haying (and laundry) weather; July was definitely difficult in that respect.

Anyway, I am excited to finally share this set of rose photographs; I took them in June (I think) and didn’t get around to sharing them until now. Also, I realized that I have barely mentioned Maverick City Music on here (!!), so I thought it was time to remedy that. My family discovered Maverick in the spring (although, some of us had heard of them before), with their album Old Church Basement. Since then their music is playing for at least a couple hours every day and everyone has all of the lyrics for their recent three albums memorized. 🙂 I absolutely love Maverick’s music, and find the diversity amongst the group – both psychical and vocal – to be wonderful. Basically, I cannot recommend their music enough.

Unlike with Maverick, I know that I have mentioned my appreciation for some of Billie Eilish’s music before. I have found myself greatly enjoying her latest album and simply couldn’t resist sharing a few of my favorite tracks of hers. And with that, let’s jump in!

Maverick City

Though the storms may come
And the winds may blow, I’ll remain steadfast
And let my heart learn when You speak a word
It will come to pass

Great is Your faithfulness to me
From the rising sun to the setting same
I will praise Your name
Great is Your faithfulness to me, oh

Promises – Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1

Walked out of my grave clothes and I
Came out in a new robe, I was
Buried there for too long, now I
Come alive in the one who has conquered it all

He breathed in me
Made these dry bones come alive
He conquered death
And because He did it, I can do it too

Grave Clothes – Tribl I

You were not hiding
But I couldn’t find You
If I’m being honest
Not sure I really tried
I wrestled with angels
Defending my idols
Walking in circles
Till I was blinded by the light

Promised Land – Tribl 1

I remember when sin was sin
And I remember when wrong was wrong
And I remember when we all fell short
And got back up much quicker than before

Well, I’m praying that You open our eyes
Praying that You open our eyes again
Father, please open our eyes
Father, please open our eyes again

Make It Right – Jubilee: Juneteenth Edition

Billie Eilish

When I’m away from you
I’m happier than ever
Wish I could explain it better
I wish it wasn’t true, mm-hmm
Give me a day or two
To think of something clever
To write myself a letter
To tell me what to do, mm-hmm

Happier Than Ever (Clean)

I’m getting older, I think I’m aging well
I wish someone had told me I’d be doing this by myself
There’s reasons that I’m thankful, there’s a lot I’m grateful for

Things I once enjoyed (ah-ah)
Just keep me employed now
Things I’m longing for
Someday, I’ll be bored of
It’s so weird
That we care so much until we don’t

Getting Older

Would you like me to be smaller, weaker, softer, taller?
Would you like me to be quiet?

Am I my stomach? My hips?
The body I was born with
Is it not what you wanted?

Not My Responsibility

Was I stupid to love you?
Was I reckless to help?
Was it obvious to everybody else, that I’d fallen for a lie?
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you’ll never see me cry
There’s just no time to die

No Time To Die

Well! Any thoughts? Have you heard any of Maverick City’s music? Have you listened to any of Happier Than Ever?
