Summer Thoughts | Ramblings about Life

Hello again, dear readers. I am dropping by today with something slightly different than my usual, a post of summer ramblings, courtesy of me. I hope that you enjoy seeing bit of what I am thinking about – related to blogging and life – as this summer begins to unfold.

Well, I suppose a natural place to start is with blogging: Last summer I barely blogged and then started this site as the school year began, perfect timing. Blogging is something that I continue to enjoy, but I am realizing that is slightly less enjoyable for me in the summer. I suppose that I am less consistently motivated right now than I am when it is a piece of my school week and an excuse to take a break from more difficult things.

That said, I plan to continue blogging, just slightly less perhaps, or……well, I am not really sure. I just wouldn’t be surprised if I end up disappearing from the blogsphere for a couple weeks at some point. I know that I need to take a bit of a break from my laptop in the near future, although I am definitely using it less than I was a few months ago. As of this moment I have a few book reviews – that I am very excited about! – waiting for me to type them up, so I don’t anticipate disappearing yet…..although it is very possible that I will find myself completely without blogging time in the next week. (Let’s just say, that there is someone very special who will be joining our family literally any day now. :))

This summer promises to be a busy one, summer always is for my family – as farm-work is far more complicated and time-consuming for everyone during the growing season – and due to the above factor it will be even busier than ever. Thankfully, due to the fact that we have already received far more rain than last year, the grass is growing for grazing and hay, making things far less stressful.

I am thoroughly enjoying my break from school – which officially began last week. Having more breathing space to read the things that I want to is lovely. I truly love our summer life for all of its craziness, there is nothing like the sunshine and spending time with my youngest siblings outside – lots of golf cart rides, movie soundtracks and trampoline time for us. I have already had so much more energy for journaling and I am rediscovering my love for it. Haha, I can’t wait to read my entries from this summer in a couple years. I am sure I will be laughing hard at some of the things I am writing about.

In the next few weeks, maybe I’ll wait until July, I have some research to do about college-related stuff – SATs etc as well as beginning to plan out my next (and final!!) year of homeschooling. I can’t believe that I am seriously going to be done with high-school this time next year.

My birthday is next month. πŸ™‚ I am planning on rewatching the Mamma Mia! movies with my siblings and making cheesecake-brownies and whipped cream. Nothing fancy, but still fun.

I am making slow but steady progress through my first summer non-fiction read. It is fascinating but dense and long. Katharine Graham was one interesting woman. As a bit of an incentive for myself, I plan to rewatch The Post when I finish the book. πŸ™‚

We watched Cruella earlier this week, and….I really enjoyed it! It was funny and both Emmas were absolutely wonderful. I did not anticipate the twist half-way through, although it seemed oddly predictable when it happened. The clothes are stunning and I loved every minute.

And…well, there is more I could say, but my chores are calling me, so I guess I will bid you all farewell for the day.

How are all of you? What have you been up to? Any fun summer plans?

  1. Oh, I really enjoyed seeing your “summer ramblings”, Esmeralda! I’d love to see more posts like this!

Definitely don’t feel bad about taking a break! I love your blog (it’s one of my favorite blogs, actually!) but I will totally understand if you end up disappearing for a few weeks!

Journaling (and looking back on old journal entries) is so much fun! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying it!

Happy early birthday! πŸ₯³ My birthday’s coming up this month and I’m excited! Those cheesecake brownies sound so good!

Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

      1. Yay, I’ll look forward to them!

Aw, thanks! 😊 My plans are pretty casual! Just spending a nice, quiet day at home with my family–maybe walking around downtown or something. *shrugs*
