Spring Photography – Part 1 | feat. bookish questions and answers

Hello again, dear readers. I hope that you are enjoying another beautiful spring day! The weather here is absolutely lovely today, but sadly we are preparing to lose all of our vibrant forsythia and daffodils to about eight inches of snow (!!!) tomorrow. Although I am absolutely grateful for water in any form, and I know I should not complain, I and just wondering..why couldn’t it be rain instead?

Well, other than the weather, my week has been largely uneventful so far. I have been busy with school (my research paper is beginning to take form) and reading (I just finished The Book of Lost Names and all I have to say at the moment is…I was pleasantly surprised).

Moving on to the post ahead, I was tagged for both of these enjoyable and bookish themed tags a couple/few months ago. As always I am horribly behind in actually doing them, but thank you to Allison @ Universe Within Pages and Naemi @ A Book Owl’s Corner for tagging me!

The Outstanding Blogger Award

1 | What was your last five-star read?

Full disclosure, I am not someone who gives five-star rating out lightly, only books I truly love earn one. That said, there have a been a couple that I have read or re-read recently that have earned a coveted five-stars.

Disenchanted by Megan Morrison (Check out my review here.)

2 | What is your favorite dessert?

That is an impossible question to answer! I will narrow it down to chocolate desserts though: brownies, chocolate cake and chocolate-chip cookies. 🙂

3 | What are some of your hobbies outside of reading?

Well, the most obvious answer is blogging, but I also enjoy nature photography, cooking – I’ve been making fried rice regularly lately as well as turkey soup every day this week- and baking – a bunch of brownies using maple syrup in place of sugar and always muffins.

4 | If you were stuck on an island and you could only have three items with you, what would they be?

I honestly have no idea! Maybe a journal + pen (one item because the pen is inside the journal) , one of my favorite books (either a Politano or White book) and a cozy blanket.

5 | What is your most anticipated release for this year?

How could I ever pick only ONE upcoming release!? Let us compromise with two upcoming releases I am incredibly excited to read.

The Nature of A Lady by Roseanna M. White | Releasing May 4 | Pre-Order Here

Yours Is The Night by Amanda Dykes | Releasing August 3 | Pre-Order Here

6 | What is your favorite thing about blogging?

First off, I love sharing my thoughts on books and life with all of you. Secondly, reviewing books has both grown my writing skills and completely changed the way that I read.

7 | What book character can you relate most to?

I honestly cannot think of any specific character to whom I really relate to…….hmmm.

The Meet the Book Blogger Tag

Rules/Necessary Information

  • Nominated bloggers can nominate ten other bloggers.
  • Use the same questions from the tag.
  • Tag the original creator and the blogger who tagged you

1 | Who is your all-time favorite book character?

What is with all of these almost impossible questions?! How are my fellow readers so cruel, as to make me choose? Once again, I am going to share a couple favorites:

Margot de Wilde – The Number of Love by Roseanna M. White – Why? There are so many reasons I love Margot: her strength, her uniqueness, her bravery, the fact she is a Code-Breaker (!!!)……..and more.

Lucy Claremont & Dashel Greene – Set The Stars Alight by Amanda Dykes – Why? Not only are both of them absolutely beautiful characters, they are incredible together.

2 | What’s your most unpopular book opinion?

Perhaps the fact that I have no interest in ever reading (or watching) either the Hunger Games or Harry Potter.

3 | What’s your weirdest bookish habit?

I do not have many bookish habits, but I am almost always in the middle of either two, three or four books. (Yes, I can keep them all straight. 😀)

4 | What character would you bring to a family event as your fake partner?

Yet another terribly difficult question! I suppose that my first (somewhat joking) choice would be Peter Kavinski from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (in all honesty, though, the movie version of him). I would pick him largely because it would both drive my sister crazy and make her laugh, due to the fact that he reminds her of Bruce Banner/Hulk who she strongly dislikes. My second and (real) choice would be Dash from Set The Stars Alight, he is hands down, one of my absolute favorite male characters of all time.

5 | What made you decide to start a book blog?

Technically speaking, my blog is not a book blog, but due to the amount of content on my blog that is focused on books, I suppose I fall under the book blogger category. Ultimately, I blog about books because I love them.

6 | What about reading and books do you love the most?

Everything……literally everything. I love falling into a story and absorbing it, I love being inspired by the words that that fill the pages of the books I read, I simply love words and stories.

7 | What is your field of study/desired profession/current profession?

Considering the fact that I am still a high-school student, my field of study is far from permanently settled. That said, I am currently hoping to study political science and law after graduating from high-school.

8 | What are some book recommendations that became your favorites/obsessions?

The first books that come to mind are the Six of Crows books. Although I would not call myself obsessed with them, I really enjoyed them and hope to re-read them (and add them to my personal library) at some point in the near future.

9 | What is the book you shove down everyone’s throat?

Basically any of Roseanna M. White’s books (specifically her most recent releases, The Codebreakers trilogy, and upcoming release The Nature of a Lady) or Lindsay A. Franklin’s Weaver Trilogy.

Any thoughts you’d like to share on the questions or my answers? How has your spring been so far? Is everything looking beautifully spring-like or still somewhat wintery? Are you expecting snow at the end of this week like us (!!)?

  1. Oh, congrats on the tags! Whoa, eight inches of snow?! I had to double check to make sure I read that right: that’s crazy! Where I live we’re slowly inching towards summer weather! 😂 I actually laughed when I saw that you wrote you had no interest in reading Harry Potter or The Hunger Games: I don’t either. Like, at all, ha, ha. Glad to know I’m not the only one. 😉 Thanks for sharing: I really enjoyed this post as always!

  2. Your photographs are always absolutely stunning, Esmeralda, and these definitely put me into a nice Spring mood! 😊 And I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one having a horribly difficult time choosing a favorite book character – that question was just predestined for cheating! And although I must admit that it breaks my heart just a little to hear you have no interest in reading some of my favorite series ever, I think I’m intrigued enough by you mentioning codebreaking that I can let it slide… I might have to look into that series! And thanks again for doing the tag, this was a pleasure to read 😊

  3. Aw, I loved reading your answers to all these questions, Esmeralda- I can’t help but agree with you on the second number 4 hehe! And your spring photography is so pretty too- spring is such a pretty and a happy season! And thank you so much for tagging me, you’re so kind! I unfortunately don’t think I’ll get around to writing answers to these questions, I am so busy with school at the moment that I’m sort of just living off my draft posts, haha! But thank you thank you thank you anyway! 😊🤗

  5. Ooh syrup in brownies?? I haven’t tried that (yet!) but now I want to, haha! 😋💜
This was a lovely post Esmeralda – I enjoyed reading your answers! Thanks so much for the nomination 💖 I’m working on an Outstanding Blogger Award post now!
I can’t believe you’re getting snow!! It’s springy/summery where I am in Georgia, and even though it’s not that hot yet, the pretty flowering bushes in our yard are losing all their pink flowers. 😦 maybe the chill we had for a few days didn’t sit well with the flowers, I’m not sure. I have no idea if it’s gonna be getting hotter or colder here lol!

    1. It definitely changes the consistency of the brownies, but the taste is incredible!
Thank you, Maggie! I can’t wait to see your answers. 😀
It seems to be getting warmer again here, thankfully! Incredibly our flowers held up through the snow, how sad that yours have lost their flowers early. 😦
