The Me And Music Tag // featuring some of my favorite songs // Part 1

Hello again, my dear readers.

Typically, I am not someone who really enjoys doing the common tags that circle around the blogosphere, but I have a soft spot for newer and interesting tags. I discovered this tag last week on the lovely Maya Joelle’s blog and it was love at first sight for me. I loved the idea and the prompts (although it was very long, after all that’s why I chose to break it into two parts). And here we are, I am sharing a bunch of songs that I enjoy. I hope that you enjoy looking at these favorites of mine, maybe finding a few new songs to listen to and avoiding the constant election news for a few short minutes.

*Note to my younger readers, not all of these songs are ones I would wholeheartedly recommend to you, so please use the same caution you usually would when listening to/finding new songs!

After some thought, I decided to share some songs that remind of my home away from home, my beloved summer camp that I don’t know when I will be back to. It’s strange how somewhere that I have spent about twelve days of my life can feel like home, but it truly does. And to be truly honest, this is fraction of the songs that make me think of camp, somedays everything reminds of it.

There are so many songs I love about love (lol), human love songs and the most important and only true Love, so I will share a few of both, because why not.

Much to the annoyance of one of my friends in particular, I don’t really dance. There was a time in my life when dancing was very special to me, now I watch rather than participating. That said, here’s a couple songs that make me feel like dancing, even if I just watch others. (Incidentally these are mostly songs from movies. Hmm.)

I am pretty sure that I would be impossible to pick top favorite songs from movies, so here are just a random few.

Beauty & the Beast – Beauty and the Beast (2017) // tale as old as time, tune as old as song / both a little scared, neither one prepared

Never Enough – Loren Allred // All the shine of a thousand spotlights, all the stars we steal from the night sky will never be enough / these hands could hold the world but it’ll

I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors) – Moana Soundtrack // Who am I? I am a girl who loves my island, I’m the girl who loves the sea / I will carry you here in my heart you’ll remind me

Whenever I am having trouble falling asleep, I listen to Lauren Daigle, although that may sound critical of her music, I promise it’s not. Something about her songs just helps me feel at peace.

Praise You in This Storm – Natalie Grant // I barely hear your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you” / my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

Your Wings – Lauren Daigle // when ten thousand arrows take flight remind me that You are my armor / you cover me, I’m under Your wings

Hmmm. I’ve having trouble with this one……I guess I’ll just reach back a few years. :))

Lights Shine Bright (feat. hollyn) – TobyMac // I wanna reflect the sun, cut like precious diamonds / music for the people to illuminate the soul

Who doesn’t love songs that help motivate you to get stuff done (or walk faster). I definitely have quite a few that work for this prompt. (Hamilton, anyone!!!)

Rise Up – Andra Day // You’re broken down and tired of living life on a merry go round / it feels like it’s getting hard to breathe and I know you feel like dying / But I promise we’ll take the world to its feet and move mountains

Satisfied – Renee Elise Goldsberry // Alexander, I’ll never forget the first time I saw your face, I have never been the same / I’m a girl in a world in which my only job is to marry rich

To be completely honest, I don’t like that many really old songs, so don’t be surprised if I can’t think of many. I think I’ll include one that feels old or vintage, maybe.

My Favorite Things – Julie Andrews // raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens / silver-white winters that melt into springs

Grace Kelly – The Yale Spizzwinks // I try to be like Grace Kelly, but all her looks were too sad / say what you want to satisfy yourself, hey, but you only want what everybody else says you should want

How Great Thou Art // I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder / thy power throughout the universe displayed
